The interesting part is not the parts list, it is the networking. The desktop reaches the NAS two ways: over the ordinary LAN for everything, and over a direct cable between two USB-to-Ethernet adapters on a private subnet for editing media off the array and running benchmarks.
That second path exists because pulling raw files over the shared network was the bottleneck in the photography workflow. It is the same reasoning as the homelab - measure the constraint, then build around it.
